Dear Parents,
Welcome to Fourth Grade! I am so excited to be working with Mrs. Redfern this year and am looking forward to a year full of growth, exploration, and fun!
It is a blessing to be a part of The Parish School community as both an educator and a parent. I have been a parishioner of St. Edward's for 18 years and my husband and I were lucky enough to be married at this beautiful church in 2002. We have three children who attend the school in 7th grade, 6th grade, and 4th grade. As a product myself of two wonderful Diocesan schools (St. John the Baptist and Mater Dei), I know first hand the rich academic and spiritual education that awaits your child. I have more than 20 years of teaching experience, and after 15 years of teaching for Santa Ana Unified School District, am so thankful to find myself back teaching for such a dynamic, innovative Catholic school.
This year will be an exciting year for our learners as they join the upper school and become more self-reliant and independent in their learning. Your children will be encouraged to be active learners, to take ownership of their work, and responsibility for their behavior so that they may contribute to a positive classroom and school environment.
I am thrilled to be sharing my classroom with Kirsten Redfern. Mrs. Redfern and I share the same passion for Reading and Writing and the same commitment to provide a loving and safe environment for your child to learn and grow.
I look forward to partnering with you this year. I cannot wait to see what your child can accomplish!
In Partnership,
Karen Silva
